Nightingale Yoga

Yoga with Sally Lander
ABOUT

Most Nightingale Yoga classes are still on Zoom, with people coming to the Burwell studio in-person to make a 'blended' class. There are also in-person classes at the Friends Meeting House in Hartington Grove, Cambridge on Thursday mornings. We're having a lot of fun online, and the experience has been amazingly positive. Go to the CLASSES section for details.

Every class I teach has students who've been coming for years and students who've just joined and may never have done yoga before. The friendship and support of the group is an important part of what happens. Mindfulness and meditation are integrated into the yoga classes.

Yoga, mindfulness and meditation changed my life utterly, so I am passionate about their benefits. By the age of 34 knee and back problems meant even a short walk to the post box was often beyond me. In 1994 after my first class I slept so well I tried to do the things I'd learned. After 2 weeks the pain stopped. I've done at least 15 minutes of yoga daily since and added meditation in 2004 - both are a support and a delight.

I qualified to teach yoga in 1999 & 2000 with Mary Stewart, who worked with Iyengar in the 1970s and Vanda Scaravelli later. I have also trained to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction with the University of Bangor’s Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice. I study at home and continue to learn and train with an eclectic mix of international and local yoga and mindfulness teachers. I've been teaching (English) since 1982 and yoga since 1999 and am insured through the British Wheel of Yoga.  I love teaching and learning from the students who come to the classes. It's a wonderful life.

TESTIMONIAL

Testimonials

Peace of mind - excellent teaching by a lovely soul. Sally's classes are truly in the spirit of yoga - unity between mind, body and spirit. Carefully thought through, delivered in a clear and gentle manner and taught with great integrity.

- Diana Silk (one of my first teachers)

I have this morning paid for my first term of yoga having found the inital session challenging in some ways but loved the atmosphere and the support from you and the general vibe from the other students so I will definitely be sticking with it.  I hope to be able to remember some of the general starter stuff so I can practice a little every day too. So glad I made the decision to do something this new year and glad I chose this.
